India Emerges Victorious with a Commanding 8-Wicket Win Against Pakistan in the Emerging Asia Cup 2023

In a thrilling encounter at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, India A emerged victorious by eight wickets against Shaheens in their final group match of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup on Wednesday.

Shaheens, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, faced a tough challenge from India A's bowlers, losing wickets at regular intervals and struggling at 95 for six. However, Qasim Akram and Mubasir Khan showcased resilience and stitched together a crucial 53-run partnership for the seventh wicket. After Mubasir's departure, Mehran Mumtaz joined Qasim, and the duo added 43 runs for the eighth wicket. Qasim Akram top-scored for Shaheens with a patient 48 runs off 63 balls, including five fours.


Shaheens managed to post a total of 205 runs in 48 overs before being bowled out. Mehran Mumtaz remained unbeaten on 25 off 26 balls, featuring one four and a six. Rajvardhan Hangargekar was the standout bowler for India A, claiming five wickets for 42 runs in his eight overs. Manav Suthar also made significant contributions with the ball, taking three wickets for 36 runs in his ten overs.


In the chase:

India A exhibited a dominant batting display, with opening batter Sai Sudharsan playing a match-winning knock of an unbeaten 104 runs off 110 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes. He anchored the innings beautifully and guided India A to the target. Nikin Jose also made a valuable contribution, scoring a brisk 53 runs off 64 balls, which featured seven boundaries.

India A successfully chased down the target in just 36.4 overs, securing an eight-wicket victory over Shaheens. With this result, Shaheens faced their first defeat in the eight-team tournament, but they still qualified for the semi-finals. They will now face Sri Lanka A in the first semi-final at the P Sara Oval on Friday. Meanwhile, India A will take on Bangladesh A in the second semi-final on the same day at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.


Man of the Match:

The player of the match was rightfully awarded to Sai Sudharsan from India A for his outstanding century that propelled his team to a comprehensive victory.
